One of the unique features of our reducer molding is its sloped design on one side, creating a gradual taper that smoothly transitions from one floor to another. Unlike traditional cap-style moldings, this piece elegantly slopes off the floor, offering a visually appealing solution for any transition where the floors are not evenly aligned. Whether it’s laminate to tile, wood to laminate, or any other combination, this reducer molding is the perfect choice when one floor sits higher than the other.
To install the floor with the surface reducer, we recommend leaving a 1″ gap between the two floors. Take precise measurements and trim the molding to ensure a perfect fit. When positioning the track, make sure to center it between the flooring and leave a 1/4″ spacing between the track and the floor planks. For added stability, you have the option to either screw the track to the subfloor or use construction adhesive for a secure bond.
Installing the molding is a simple process. Begin at one end and press the molding into the track, gradually inching along its length until it is fully inserted. The molding will seamlessly merge the two floors, creating a smooth and cohesive transition.
